A new identity to communicate health innovation

Yorkshire & Humber AHSN
A new identity to communicate health innovation
Brand identity, design

Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network is one of 15 AHSNs set up by NHS England to operate as the key innovation arm of the NHS. The organisation was looking for a new visual identity to help communicate what they do and the impact they are having. The identity needed to reflect how the AHSN brings health care providers, commissioners, academia and industry together.

The visual identity needed to make use of some of the elements of the national AHSN brand, but also reflect the Yorkshire and Humber region, along with the culture and values of the team.

“Creative Concern demonstrated that they had understood what we needed by developing concepts that immediately hit the mark. Their friendly, patient and helpful account team worked tirelessly to execute our chosen treatment quickly and they provided the expertise and advice we needed to make the best practical decisions as the project progressed. Their work has significantly improved the quality and impact of our communications and we feel like we have a visual identity that truly reflects the value of our achievements the way we like to do things and the region we are proud to serve.”
David Shapland, Head of Marketing and Communications

We developed a distinct graphic language based on a shape derived from the logo. The ‘plectrum’ shape is used alongside illustrative icons to demonstrate how the partnership works and the benefits of the AHSN approach. Creative Concern also produced an introductory animation, a series of event publications and a toolkit for the AHSN team to use.
