We've been working with the National Trust on the Sky Gardening Challenge – a nationwide campaign encouraging people in flats to transform their balconies and window boxes into havens for nature and wellbeing.

The campaign launched in April 2026, showing people that even the smallest outside space can make a difference – to local wildlife, to cityscapes, and to how people feel when they step outside.

We developed a complete campaign identity, messaging framework, and toolkit for National Trust teams and partners across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The tone needed to to be warm, encouraging, and accessible – more 'give it a go' than 'it has to be perfect'! The campaign speaks directly to urban audiences who might never have thought of themselves as gardeners. We illustrated a range of flowers and edibles that can be grown from seed in containers.

We worked with PR Consultant Margaret Bennett on the official launch – a plant-your-own-pot workshop for local residents at Hulme Community Garden Centre in Manchester. BBC Breakfast even came along to film The Cloud Gardener (aka Jason Williams) on his 18th floor balcony – proving what's possible when you give balcony gardening a go.

We're managing the campaign through to October 2026 – running social channels, working with influencers, and creating film and written content to support the National Trust project team.

The identity has been rolled out across print and digital platforms – and yes, we even got to design the seed packets that are being posted to thousands of participants.

With thousands already signed up and hundreds of balconies being planted across the country, this is urban greening in action. We can't wait to see what grows.
