No Space for Racism
A hard hitting campaign designed to tackle racism against health and social care workers. We were commissioned by the NHS and the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership to develop a campaign film, identity and a suite of campaign materials to get the message across powerfully and succinctly.
The lead campaign film has been viewed over 200,000 times
In the last 12 months alone, around 1 in 4 of black and minority ethnic staff reported experiencing harassment, bullying, or abuse from patients, relatives, or the public. Many more cases are not reported. This means there is a big difference between what workers go through and what is officially recorded.
The No Space for Racism campaign aims to help people understand the impact racism has on staff, encourage respectful behaviour, and give all staff and members of the public the confidence to speak up and report incidents.
Our team developed the campaign name, supporting campaign lines, the visual identity and a series of internal and external films.
The lead film features staff including a GP, surgeons, a paramedic, social worker and a nursing assistant, describing the impact racism has had on their wellbeing, confidence and daily lives.
Staff across Greater Manchester have spoken up about the racism they experience at work. Their voices have shaped this campaign. A huge thank you to the health and social care workers who volunteered to be part of this film and the wider campaign.
A key aim of the campaign is to encourage members of the public to become active bystanders and stand up to racism. Even small actions can make a difference. Step in if it’s safe to do so, check in with the person affected, report it – all of these send a clear message – racism is not okay.
