In September last year the John Rylands Library contacted us to work with them to help refresh and rebrand their popular cafe and reception area.

We were asked to give the cafe a new look; reviewing furniture layout in order to take the visual emphasis away from the existing counter and create clear sight lines to the new coffee display. We also looked to create opportunities to tell cafe visitors about the library and its world renowned collection.

We proposed a series of large scale fabric graphics using visually striking images with bold colours from the library collection’s manuscripts. The graphics were then suspended from the perimeter to give a backdrop to the space. We also mounted directly onto the original counter to mask it and help steer visitors to the new servery.

The new-look cafe was branded Enriqueta’s after the library’s founder and the marque based on her signature was carried through onto menus and signage.
