Emmaus UK supports more than 850 people who have experienced homelessness providing them with a home for as long as they need it, personalised support, access to training and meaningful work in a social enterprise. We worked with the Emmaus UK fundraising team to deliver a series of three direct mail campaigns - creating campaign concepts and a new design approach.

 

Emmaus Winter Campaign

For our first Winter appeal with Emmaus we worked closely with the fundraising team and identified that personal stories from the companions (the individuals Emmaus supports through their communities) was integral to the campaign and suited the existing warm audience. 

Our concept focused around days that changed their lives, which included good day and bad days, but put the emphasis on the companion and the significance a donation has to help. Through companion workshops and interviews we were able to tell the stories of two companions accurately and authentically. 

Within the design we included handwritten notes and images of the companions alongside a light touch illustrative approach. This was a move away from previous mailers but still had elements that were familiar to the audience. 

Emmaus Winter Appeal

The Winter campaign went live with a mail pack, supporting emails and short animations that were used across social platforms, we then continued to work with Emmaus on their Christmas and Summer campaigns, keeping their companions front and centre with both campaigns exceeding fundraising targets.
