Sustainability at STFC

Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)
Getting serious about sustainable science
Design, copywriting, messaging, animation, film

We worked closely with the sustainability team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) to develop a visual identity to support their sustainability and net zero drive.

STFC needed a strong identity that would help motivate colleagues across their many sites to get involved, repositioning sustainable science as essential to their future. The identity needed to adhere to the UKRI guidelines but be distinctive enough that their sustainability communications would be easily recognisable.

Our work included the development of a suite of illustrations exploring their sustainability themes and a range of flexible design templates to provide the team with a comprehensive design toolkit.

Messaging was vital to the project and our copywriting team worked to deliver the lead narrative and marketing messaging. Our deliverables included an engagement plan, digital screen designs, lead graphics, presentation design, animation and a series of films utilising the identity.

The visual identity was created in collaboration with both the sustainability and communications team, and is being used across the organisation by multiple teams. We teamed up with partner agency JustOne who developed the strategic approach and led the research phase.
